EIRA#3 RECORDING SESSION
RESIDENCY AT OSSO, 2021

The Arquivo Atlântico podcast platform is a space for sound and narrative exploration that, through three different formats – narrative-essay, letters and conversations –proposes to think about the multiple ways in which the memory of the colonial process afftects and determines the present.

The first cycle of podcasts, developed in collaboration with OSSO Coletivo in 2020, was configured as a speculative and literary experiment focused on stories situated in the triangle formed by Brazil, Angola and Portugal – countries that are our places of origin and mark our personal trajectory. From an extensive research of sources and references and the production of new personal accounts, we gathered a heterogeneous set of texts, images and sounds that proposed to redesign the post-colonial condition under a multiplicity of voices.

The material was organized around the idea of a fictional correspondence between people who move from one place to another, who are at the same time attached to their territory and their memories, and lost among the memories of others. They are characters that break with the logic of belonging and permanence, with the idea of nationality and border, crossing both geographical and language territories.

In the composition and dramaturgy of the podcasts, we were inspired by the narrative structure of the film Sans Soleil, by Chris Marker, to situate the project's questions in the encounter between literature, fiction and theory, seeking to observe the agency and similarities that emerge from these materials and the ways in which, when put together, they are able to reveal wide and complex processes that challenge conventional historicity.

In the second cycle of podcasts, started in September 2021, we set to have conversations with people who, whether through their experiences or personal and professional trajectories, are able to contribute to expand the questions that the project raises.

The Podcast has the collaboration of Talma Salem and the music of Juan Valente. The project was supported by the Research Residencies of OSSO Coletivo in 2020, and was part of the curatorial program Eira#3, a radio platform for OSSO 's artistic residencies.
